Water figures in a Croatian home: separate meter readings and water footprint
Every water figure needs a level and a unit. A meter reading recorded during a home handover should not be mixed with Croatia’s annual statistics or with the wider concept of a water footprint.

Place national delivery volumes in context
Croatia’s public water supply delivered 330,474 thousand m³ of water in 2025. Households accounted for 185,728 thousand m³, or 56.2%; these annual figures describe the country, not one home’s meter.1
Distinguish direct and indirect water
Hrvatske vode defines the water footprint as the total freshwater needed for consumed goods and services. It includes direct use in households and indirect water used in agriculture, industry and energy processes.2
